The
ancient Greeks called it hubris (ὕβρις) and
back then it was considered one of the most abhorrent offences one could
commit. It referred to actions that shamed and humiliated the victim for the
pleasure or gratification of the abuser. In its modern use, hubris denotes
overconfident pride and arrogance, often associated with a lack of humility.
Whatever you call it - arrogance, presumption, hubris, pride - Tony Abbott is
its very personification.
